[ONESHOT] You Better Believe It [Uzumaki Naruto]
It was my 16th birthday and I was really excited about celebrating it with my friends. I was also excited about something else. Apparently Naruto was meant to be coming back from a mission today. “HEY! GET OFF!” I shouted and pushed them off of me.
“I shall help you, fair maiden!” Lee announced, holding his hand out to me like he was a hero. Kiba and TenTen sweat dropped, but I just took Lee’s hand and let him help me up.
“So tell me, why exactly did you guys tackle me to the ground?” I asked as I dusted myself off.
“It’s your birthday, right?” Kiba asked.
“Yes, but what has tackling me to the ground got to do with it?” I asked raising an eyebrow.
“It’s a sign of our affection!” TenTen said with a smile. I rolled my eyes at her.
“Happy birthday Luci!”
“Thanks guys,” I said appreciatively.
“So Naruto is meant to come back today, huh?” TenTen said and nudged me with her elbow. She had this crazy theory that Naruto and I would get together and have hyper little kids.
“Yeah, I was just about to go to the gate to see him,” I answered, unaffected by her comment.
“Come on, we’ll go with you!” Lee said and we all headed towards the gates of Konoha.
Kiba and Lee were in front, while TenTen and I stayed at the back. TenTen kept giving me weird looks as if there was something that was going to happen. I looked at her and she looked away. I frowned and turned my attention back to where I was going. “I hope she’s not going to try and set me and Naruto up.”
Once we got to the gate, I saw that Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi were just entering through the gates.
“Look! They’ve just arrived!” Lee said and broke out into a run to go and greet Sakura.
Kiba, TenTen and I caught up and smiled at them all.
“Hey! Luci!” Naruto said loudly and bounced over towards me. He brought me into a bone crushing hug and I hugged him back with the same amount of power.
“Hey, Naruto,” I said in his death grip.
“Hey Luci?” Sakura said trying to get my attention.
“Huh?” I said and broke away from Naruto.
“Happy birthday!” Sakura said beaming.

Naruto looked at me, a look of almost horror on his face. I looked at him confused. “Today’s your birthday?” Naruto asked.
That hurt.
He had forgotten my birthday!
“Naruto! How could you forget Luci-chan’s birthday?!” Sakura yelled and donked him over the head.
My head bowed in sadness and hurt. My best friend had forgotten my birthday! How could he forget?! Surely someone would have told him?! Tears stun at my eyes as I tried not to cry.
“Luci?” TenTen asked beside me. I didn’t look at her, or at anyone. My hair covered my face, hiding my emotions. I looked up at Naruto and made him see what he had done and how he had made me feel. I then ran away to my apartment. I didn’t want to see him. I didn’t want to see anyone. Naruto had ruined my whole day.
“Luci!” Sakura and TenTen called out after me. I ignored them all. This was the worst day of my life.

I put them on a table and decided to open them later. I went back to my room and decided to have a shower. But once I got into my room I found that someone was in there.
“Naruto-kun? What are you doing here?” I asked as I looked at the person sitting on my bed. He was holding something in his hand, but I couldn’t really see it in the dark light from the night. Naruto stood up and walked over towards me. I watched him confused and then got angry about what he had done to me today.
“What do you want?” I asked angrily.
“Luci-chan,” Naruto whispered as he stood in front of me. He then handed me the thing that was in his hand. It was a single red rose, a very beautiful and delicate red rose. How did he know?
“How – how did you know … that roses were … my favourite flower?” I stuttered amazed.
“Don’t you remember?” Naruto asked, a slight grin upon his face.
“Huh?” I muttered, still looking at the fragile flower.
“When you got hurt on that mission that time and you were in hospital?” Naruto questioned, “I had brought you a bunch of daisies. You said that I should have brought roses since that’s your favourite flower, but you were happy to accept mine anyway.”
“Oh, I remember that,” I whispered, a smile tugging at my lips, “At least you remembered one thing.”
“I didn’t forget your birthday, Luci-chan,” Naruto interrupted. I looked up at him, confused and questioning. “I wanted this to be a surprise.”

I moved away a bit from his body and brought my hands slowly down from his neck and slid them down his shoulders. Naruto’s eyes didn’t leave mine as I went to the zip of his jacket.
